As a college student, I worked as a technical student assitant for Montgomery College's IT department. I learned the basics of computer support and troubleshooting audiovisual equipment.
Coordinated with senior IT technicians in the installation, testing, and maintenance of hardware and software on local servers. Created a knowledge database and training manual for new employees, students, faculty, and staff. Collaborated in the creation and maintenance of the center’s website using Drupal and Wordpress.
Organized meetings with constituents and prepared agendas and talking points for the member of congress to improve community engagement. Collaborated in the creation of digital and print informational material. Managed and hosted community events including fundraisers, student orientations, town halls, and legislative workshops. Contacted Federal agencies and managed constituent complaints in collaboration with congressional case workers.
Implemented a new purchasing system for the acquisition of services and supplies for 9 departments within the institute. Developed new archiving and records retention procedures for accounts payable and receivable documents to facilitate internal audits. Created the purchasing and shipping manual for IBBR. Upgraded the shipping and receiving system, improving accuracy and reducing shipping errors by 17%. Collaborated in the creation of an expense report system that allowed users to generate reports using mobile devices.
Spearheaded the Department of Classroom Educational Technology Services' New Technology Initiative to identify and apply new classroom technologies designed to enhance lecture delivery and improve student engagement. Successfully implemented Agile methodology for developing and tracking technology projects. Introduced and managed a new cloud-based inventory management system that reduced annual operating costs by $22k. Administered staff recruiting and training, created the staff training manual, and provided leadership training and mentoring to staff and student assistants. Revamped the recruiting and training processes for student assistants and implemented a new system to track and document performance.
Provided consulting services to identify SaaS solutions for the implementation of new systems for VielaBio, a pharmaceutical company. Drafted security documentation for VielaBio’s systems including System Impact Assessments, System Overview Decks, and Expert Package documents. Implemented system processes for Mobile Device Management (MDM), system backups, Single Sign On (SSO) applications. Collaborated in the management of Active Directory (AD) and onboarding of new staff. Contributed in the documentation of user acceptance test plans and implemented user acceptance testing.
Contribute to the daily management of Web content for NLM’s main website; create and edit content for different departments. Serve as backup for the Web and Information Management unit, solved and routed service requests and followed up on their completion. Collaborate in the maintenance of the enterprise search for NLM’s website. Created multiple websites and webpages for the navigation of resources available at NLM and NIH. Designed and implemented internal Wiki pages for training and staff announcements. Supported staff in troubleshooting problems in Citrix and Confluence and created IT requests through OCSS for external troubleshooting. Reviewed documents for Section 508 and accessibility compliance.
