I became a SharePoint Developer 7yrs ago. Doing no-code solutions. I took this class was to improve my Web Development skills which I believed would help me with SharePoint Development. Daily I use:
I learned about the newer tags present in HTML5 specifically the audio and video tags. Additionally I learned about the differences between the current version of HTML and the versions I've used previously.
View ExercisesWhile learning CSS3 I learned about the improvements to CSS3 compared to CSS. Such as supporting responsive design and allowing for animations and transformations.
View ExercisesI learned about nesting functions and proper syntax when writing JavaScript code. We learned about variable declaration/assignment and arrays also. Additionally I learned about the various types of elements that you can interface with. You can interface with elements based on their attributes such as their ids, classes, css and tag names.
View ExercisesI learned that writing the same function in JQuery is typically much shorter than writing it using pure JavaScript. I also learned about the correct syntax and structure of JQuery code. We discussed looping in JQuery also and how it is done.
View ExercisesI learned about XML and how it can be used to structure data. I learned about how similar it is to HTML with regards to structure and also how different it is. Mainly how I can define my nodes and child nodes.
View ExercisesI learned about the structure of JSON files which was pretty easy after learning about XML. I created my own JSON file based on the XML file.I learned about Object calls and Array calls using JSON.
View ExercisesI've used AJAX to query data from SharePoint lists and use that data for permissioning and returning data. Even though I had that experience I ended up creating an AJAX call to song data I reviewed and provided a rating to. This was based on the Top Music list that was provided.
View ExercisesThe Responsive Web Design lessons taught me to bring some of the topics we learned together including JS, JQuery, HTML5 and CSS. I specifically used the Bootstrap Framework for my RWD Site.
View ExercisesThis is where my Capstone Project lives. The Professsor has assessed my work and will decide whether or not I meet the requirements for the Captone Project.
View ExercisesTransition to a remote Front-End Development Role. I am currently working as a SharePoint Developer and I would like to expand my role to provide more versatility in the job market.
Learn a Back-End Language and become a Full Stack Developer. This will allow me to have more options within the Developement space and potentially find one or more remote positions.
Continue to learn within the Development space and eventually grow my own business. I would like to use this business to help those who are trying to transition into the IT arena by being able to hire them directly.
